Happy new year!! Were kicking off our third year at Jazz@Park Lane with... well in short, swing and joy of playing in its most original form! Count Basie is probably a source of inspiration for most people in jazz and really needs no explanation. His "Orchestra" is the model for almost all big bands today and the repertoire is timeless! In the hands of Göteborg Jazz Orchestra with its supertight band playing, love for music and fine soloists, it will be the perfect start to the jazz year for both the fans and the band!
...and if you dont know who Count Basie is, this is the perfect opportunity to get a piece of jazz history performed at the highest level!

WILLIAM JAMES "COUNT" BASIEThe completely legendary Count Basie Orchestra with Basies patented piano sound, great room for individual freedom and joy of playing has characterized big band jazz in the world for decades from its inception in 1935 to Basies death in 1984 (the band is actually still playing!) Incredible earrings like “Splanky,” “Teddy the toad”, “L’il Darling” et c. The band featured musicians who helped shape the sound such as Lester Young, Clark Terry, Thad Jones, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, Freddie Green and many more. The big band has made a rocket career and in a short time established on the highest level. In their love to music they always look for new expressions and they attract collaborations with the best musicians - domestic and abroad. They often reach over the genre barriers with new formats. The first Monday every month Göteborg Jazz Orchestra performs under the motto "Jazz is fun!" GJO promotes jazz music in Göteborg, always plays great music, encouraging young talents and presents interesting guests and themes!

Sigge & Company is a jazz/fusion quartet from Göteborg with four guys from Rytmus Musikgymnasium. The band plays dynamic and melodic fusion with a lot of groove and joy.
