PAPER TIGERS
Attitude, endless energy and excellent songs – that’s what Paper Tigers from Copenhagen are known for. Three guys that have dedicated themselves to Rock’n’Roll and have built a strong and growing fanbase with that!
The success story of the band began in the parental home of the siblings, Linus and Andreas Valdemar. Their father, a successful regional folk singer, took care of his sons’ interest in music from their childhood. The sound of the sixties irrevocably settled in their souls. Linus composed songs, played guitar and sang and Andreas played bass. However, it had still taken a few more years until Paper Tigers were born and ready to leave the shed behind their parents’ house. The band gained perfect sound when drummer Niklas Løvén appeared in the rehearsal room. The result was a harmonic and spellbinding sound, in the centre of current events. From this time, the trio has been continuously moving forwards. Thanks to the driving sound, simple melodies and brisk live performances, the band had already won several contests in Denmark, only a few months after their first concert. In 2011, they were awarded “Best Rock Band” at the Danish Underground Music Awards. In 2012, the band released their first EP “If We May?”, which received excellent reviews across the country. Tours round Denmark got longer and longer, the number of fans grew enormously and their songs made it to airplay on radio stations – it was only a matter of time when their success would cross the borders.
In 2015 Paper Tigers appeared on the international scene in May, they performed their first, enthusiastically received concert at Hamburg’s Reeperbahn and Berlin’s “Comet-Club“. They also started to be sought-after and booked by festivals. Their debut album “Head over Heels“ was released on 6th March 2016 supported by a headlining tour throughout Germany and Denmark. A strong amount of airplays and international video premieres (“Head over heels” at www.musiccrowns.org) followed.
After accomplishing these intermediate goals, the band focused on songwriting again and recorded their second longplayer “Color Atlas” in a former Copenhagen-based porn studio with producer Christian Ki (best known for acts such as Mathilde Falch, Death Valley Sleepers, D-Troit and Peppermint B). The eleven songs impressively reflect the development and potential of these three Danish musicians, who are – undeterred from modern trends – determined following their path.
“Color Atlas” is to be release on 8th September 2017 on LIVE ? TALENT Records through Rough Trade Distribution.
With the release of the new album and the next gig-offensive signs are pointing again to Rock’n’Roll.
