Violinisten, kompositören och den Grammybelönade ljudteknikern Simon Goff har tillsammans med den multiplatinum-säljande singer-songwritern Katie Melua skapat albumet "Aerial Objects". Fullängdaren, som släpps idag via BMG, finns tillgänglig digitalt och på CD. Den 2 september ges skivan även ut på vinyl. Albumet innehåller de tidigare släppta singlarna "Hotel Stamba" och "Textures Of Memories" samt nya låtarna "Tbilisi Airport", "It Happened", "Millions Of Things" och titelspåret "Aerial Objects".

Simon Goff och Katie Melua är två musiker som befinner sig i väldigt olika musikaliska landskap. Simon rör sig i kretsar som blandar elektroniskt, klassiskt och post-rock. Han har en unik inställning till ljud och har arbetat med några av världens mest hyllade musiker som t ex den Oscarsbelönade kompositören Hildur Guðnadóttir. Tillsammans med Hildur skapade Simon musiken till "Joker" och "Chernobyl" - båda gav honom Grammy Awards.

Katie har släppt åtta album som nått topp 10 på den brittiska albumlistan. Under sin 20-åriga karriär har hon skapat moderna klassiker som "Closest Thing To Crazy" och "Nine Million Bicycles". Hennes senaste skiva, den hyllade “Album No.8”, släpptes 2020 och följdes upp året därpå med “Acoustic Album No.8” där Simon medverkade på låtarna "Remind Me To Forget" och "Maybe I Dreamed It". Samarbetet gav mersmak. Simon och Katie kom överens om att de omedelbart ville testa att jobba ihop och se hur deras konstnärliga resa kunde utveckla sig när de började från en tom duk. Det hela resulterade i "Aerial Objects".

Simon om albumet: “The process of making this album has been one of discovery and giving space to each other. The sensitivity needed for this kind of process has allowed many things to surface, from us discovering the differences in how we listen to and hear music and lyrics, to our own deeply personal life experiences. The record for me is a representation of us exploring the space that exists between us and discovering a common voice from within it.”

Katie Melua fyller i: “I was fortunate enough to work with Simon when he appeared as a guest on an acoustic album I released late last year. During those sessions, and as a maker of immersive musical landscapes, Simon talked to me about creating records that make the listener feel like they are inside the orchestra. We agreed that we needed to create something new together -with a focus on how different environments affect the human condition."

Hon fortsätter: "On ´Aerial Objects´, our two artists’ worlds have merged to create a new space: Simon on the violin, analogue processing and synths, coming together with my world of traditional records rooted around the pop song. Lyrically this work has allowed me the freedom of imagination to address how environments shape my thinking and state; how the use of language and story-telling influence me; as well as the opportunity to finally reflect on a time in my life when I was recovering from a very challenging psychiatric illness.”
