We all want to feel love and be loved by somebody. At the beginning of a relationship, we feel great. But as soon as we start to go deeper and experience the first glimpses of love, FEAR shows its ugly face.
Fear of abandonment, fear of not being good enough, fear of showing that we love the other person more... Feeling these mixed emotions of love and fear can supercharge our dear old friend ANXIETY.
Anxiety is a sign of that we have emotions that hide underground and don’t get dealt with or that we have contradictory emotions like love and fear for the same person.
So to deal with the anxiety rising in us we go to the big nasty DEFENSES like shutting down, dissociation, withdrawing or just making ourselves busy with other things like working or eating. Some people go into a pattern of addiction or freeze states. We can also become codependent and just wanting to please the other person. Our strategies are numerous but the result are the same - creating difficulties in keeping and deepening the relationship.
In this webinar Heidi and I will share some tips & meditations to handle the anxiety and defenses - allowing us to open our hearts to relating on a deeper level - coming from our extensive knowledge of attachment theory, emotion theory, meditation and relationships.
