Annea Lockwood

Born in New Zealand in 1939 and living in the US since 1973, Annea Lockwood is known for her explorations of the rich world of natural acoustic sounds and environments, in works ranging from sound art and installations, through text-sound and performance art to concert music.
For this event at Fylkingen, Annea Lockwood will present two concert works: ‘Immersion’ (for two percussionists) and ‘Jitterbug’ (for three performers and six-channel sound).
Lockwood’s installation ‘A Sound Map of the Danube’ — a surround ‘sound map’ of the entire Danube River, incorporating a wide variety of water, animal and underwater insect sounds, rocks from the riverbed and the voices of those whose lives are intimately connected to the river will be installed and available to experience at MDT’s Studio 2 for the duration of the festival — no ticket/pass required.

Kassel Jaeger

Born in in Limoges in 1981, François J. Bonnet is the artistic director of the prestigious institute INA-GRM and the curator of the Recollection GRM series on Editions Mego label. In 2012 he published The Order of Sounds: A Sonorous Archipelago (Szendy Editions [original French] / Urbanomic [English Translation]) his book on the philosophy of sound and listening.
Bonnet produces music under his Kassel Jaeger pseudonym. Kassel Jaeger’s works are a complex balance between concrète experimentalism, ambient noise, and electroacoustic improvisation. He has released several well-received albums on various labels including Editions Mego and Senufo Editions.

Oren Ambarchi & Crys Cole

Oren Ambarchi and cry cole reimagine electro-acoustic music, not simply as “abstract” sound, but as a diary, a love poem, a dream. Their second release ‘Hotel Record’ continues to explore the pair’s simultaneously musical and romantic relationship in a more subtle fashion, presenting four long-form pieces that touch on the variety of forms the life of this couple takes: as a musical duo, as a pair of travelers to exotic locations, as opponents in a game of cards… Each of the double LP’s four sides presents a distinct sound-world, yet each manages to attain the same suspended, half-sleeping feeling, outlining a space where improbable combinations of the electronic and the acoustic, of extreme closeness and amorphous distance, occurring with the gentle insistence of a dream.
