"The Master and Margarita" Theatre Play by Mikhail Bulgakov
A famous novel by M. Bulgakov (1891-1940), The Master and Margarita, was adapted for the stage by V. Belyakovich in 1993. Since then, the play has been performed all around the world with great success. It will now be staged in Stockholm for the first time!
Novel:
The Master and Margarita is a novel by Soviet writer Mikhail Bulgakov, written in the Soviet Union between 1928 and 1940 during Stalins regime. The story involves a visit by the devil to the officially atheistic Soviet Union. The Master and Margarita combines supernatural elements with satirical dark comedy and Christian philosophy, defying categorization within a single genre. Many critics consider it one of the best novels of the 20th century and a masterpiece of Soviet satire.
Starring: Ivars Kalni?š, Maria Shkurko, Igor Khalizov, Veronika Moroz, Aleksei Avramenko, Konstantin Tsikin, Boris Bogdanov.
The play is performed in Russian without subtitles.

Göta Lejon är en teaterbyggnad på Götgatan 55 i stadsdelen Södermalm i Stockholm. Biografen Göta Lejon är centrum i affärs- och bostadshuset i det s.k. Götgatspalatset, i kvarteret Vägaren på Götgatan 53-57. Huset byggdes åren 1926-1928 och arkitektoniskt har huset en kvarterslång putsfasad med en stram modernism på neoklassicismens grund med betoning av horisontaliteten genom markerade våningsband. Arkitekt är Birger Borgström.
