Women Centre StageThis is a specialty class for the femmes of improv. This workshop welcomes all people who identify as women, or identify with the experiences/struggles/strengths of womanhood. Our voices are in the minority on most improv stages, and this class will serve to create a supportive space for all participants to be bold and play fearlessly. Together, we will explore making strong offers, embracing our unique voices, and taking agency on any stage. There will also be time for discussion on how we can create healthier improv communities.About Amy ShostakAmy is an improvisor and creator living in Vancouver, Canada. Amy started improvising with Edmonton’s Rapid Fire Theatre in 2002, and she served as the company's Artistic Director for six years. Amy performed regularly in Rapid Fire’s Theatresports, Maestro, and CHiMPROV (a weekly long form show). Amy is passionate about making improvisation more spontaneous, and telling stories that can impact an audience. This fall, she is embarking on a development project to create new work with an ensemble of improvisors. Improv has taken Amy many places. She is so pleased to have been able to perform at Monkeyfest in Bogota, Improvention in Canberra, The Lost in Translation Festival in Milan, and The Wurzburger Impro Festival. In addition to improvising, Amy is also passionate about civic engagement in Edmonton, she served as co-chair of Make Something Edmonton, and was a founding member of the Theatre Edmonton Project. She loves heavy metal and nachos.
