Take It Further Workshop
The “1-10” scale of heightening is a fiction. It’s a concept which actually holds performers back by constructing an artificial ceiling which serves only to restrict our work. Going “past a 10” and taking it further means smashing the so-called boundaries, embracing the unexpected, and exploring the most extreme possibilities to create hilarious and memorable work. In this workshop, players will be tasked with taking their work to new heights. By playing the logic of scenes to the extreme, we’ll obliterate the “10” ceiling, and in the process, reimagine our own potential and reshape improv as we know it.
Jaymie Parkkinen, an experienced improviser and clown with upwards of 7 years of teaching experience in Los Angeles. Jaymie has studied and taken classes in theater, improv, clown, mime, puppeteering at countless theaters around the United States and abroad. Also the founder and cohost of The Comedy Fix podcast, a show dedicated to unraveling comedic theory and exploring what is on the other side of the improv rules.
